Good Morning! Here’s this week’s post roundup!

Kisses and Kiddos

We Are Far Too Easily Pleased – Yet another inspiring and challenging post from Becoming Minimalist.

The 1 Lie The Devil Always Tells – I don’t link to theology posts that often but this one from Stuff Christians Like (this one is a serious post) was so excellent I had to include it. This is Biblical truth in a down-to-earth post that really spoke to me.

The 5 Disciplines of a Successful Vacation- Great list from The Romantic Vineyard, and very timely as we move into summer vacation season.

Yumminess

Fig, Prosciutto, and Goat Cheese Pizza – When it comes to pizza, I’m usually a cheese-and-pepperoni girl, but sometimes I like something a little more adventurous, and this pizza from My life as a Mrs. sounds fantastic.

Grilled Pineapple Guacamole – Grilled pineapple and avocados? I’m afraid to make this dip from Annie’s Eats because I know if I do I will probably eat all of it in a day.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Torte – Big Man loves the chocolate-peanut butter combo, and I know once he sees a picture of this dessert from Cook Like a Champion, it will be on the “Please make soon” list. That’s OK, I like peanut butter and chocolate too!

Virgin Strawberry Daiquiris – Check out this beautiful mocktail from the ladies of That’s What We Said.

Just for Fun and Giggles

Fathers Day Ideas- The ladies of The Letter 4 have this great roundup of non-girly crafts the kids can help make and give Dad for Father’s Day.

Six Ways to Show Dad You Care – And if you aren’t up to making any of those crafts, you can just buy Dad a cake. Just make sure it doesn’t look like any of these Wrecks.

And a geeky funny. This is so true!

Enjoy your weekend!

Good Morning, and Happy Cinco de Mayo! I hope you have some fun things planned for your weekend (Big Man and I get to see Avengers today!). There was lots of bloggy goodness this week. (Yes, “bloggy” is a word. I added it to my dictionary to get rid of the squiggly red line.)   Here are some of my favorites.

Kisses and Kiddos

Lessons from Photography: See Beauty Differently- This lovely post is from a new-to-me blog, Lattes and Love. I really appreciated the reminder to seek out beauty in the everyday things and find a different way to view the world around me.

You Might be a Fundamentalist If – This is a “heavier” post than I usually include in Sample Saturday, but it was really challenging to me and covers an important subject. I definitely struggle with being a fundamentalist and this post was a good reminder to be more concerned with loving like Jesus did and less concerned with being right.

The Four F’s of Summer Parenting- The Confident Mom shares some practical tips for summer parenting when your kids are off school.

Changing Yourself – Excellent food for thought over at Assume Love about the right way to encourage your spouse to change.

Yumminess

Huevos Rancheros – Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with this classic breakfast treat, and check out the recipe and beautiful photos over at Annie’s Eats.

Bacon-Chipotle Guacamole – Bacon + Avocados + Chips = Snacktime WIN! Thanks to Pink Parsley for this amazing recipe.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Whoopie Pies – Cookies & Cups takes traditional whoopie pies to a whole new level with cookie dough filling.

Blackberry Sparklers – Check out this sweet, summery mocktail over at That’s What We Said.

Just for Fun and Giggles

Art Smiles – There’s a fun (and geeky) gallery of cool artwork over at the EPBOT blog.

The Judgment Olympics – What better way to prepare for this year’s summer games than to see a list of the medal-worthy events in the sport of judging people? This post is classic SCL: hilarious, but with a good bite of honest satire.

For those of you who enjoy reading flow-charts (I do), here’s one that is incredibly efficient

And here’s a bonus funny, just because!

Enjoy your weekend!

Sample Saturday

Good Morning and Happy Saturday! I hope you get a few minutes to relax with a hot cup of coffee or tea and enjoy this weeks sampling of blog-y goodness. And yes, “blog-y” is a word. I know by the absence of a squiggly red line underneath.

Kisses and Kiddos

Best Friends – The Generous Wife talks about how important the friendship part of marriage is. A great reminder to cultivate friendship with your spouse.

Realistic Homekeeping Expectations – Not to be all self-absorbed or anything, but I’m pretty much convinced that this post from The Confident Mom was written specifically for me. The grace and reality check in this article were so refreshing, and there are a couple links in there to similar posts.

Be All There – I get easily distracted, especially by trying to plan out every detail of the future, so this reminder from The Romantic Vineyard was really helpful to me.

Yumminess

Jordan Almond Bluebirds – Sugarbelle takes us on a Sweet Adventure with a step-by-step tutorial for creating these perfectly adorable little birdies.

Salisbury Steak, Mashed Potatoes, and Peas – The Pioneer Woman gives her take on this classic comfort food meal, complete with beautiful photos.

Meyer Lemon Curd-Swirled Cheesecake Bars - Citrus-y, spring-y, cheesecake-y goodness in bar form. Sugarcrafter’s recipe for these treats look delicious.

Cheddar Popovers – I always thought you needed a special pan to make popovers, but this recipe from So Tasty, So Yummy uses a muffin tin. These look so great, I can’t wait to try them.

Funfetti Gooey Butter Cake – The Cookbook Queen has discovered the only thing that could possibly improve a decadent gooey butter cake: Sprinkles.

Just for Fun and Giggles

DIY Butterfly Mobile – My crafting skills are pretty much non-existant but this project showcased over at the Epbot blog is gorgeous. And the detailed instructions make me think I could actually succeed at making my own. Or maybe I could succeed at finding someone with crafting talent to make one for me. Either way, I want (read: MUST HAVE) one of these for Little Lady’s room.

And yes, I realize this final giggle is excessively geeky, but who could resist a Calvin-and-Hobbes/Firefly mash-up? Not me:

Calvin & Hobbes cosplay Firefly!
