Another house update! This one is fun because all the progress is really starting to make the house look more finished, at least on the outside. The excavators have completed the final grading around the house, including building a rock retaining wall near one of the basement windows and leveling out the areas on both the uphill and downhill sides of the house. We will be placing flagstone in those patio areas, along with seating and our grill and eventually a fire pit.
The two large decorative trusses in the living room have been installed.
The siding is also being installed, as of now it is about 75% complete. We are so happy with how it looks and it’s extremely exciting to watch the house look more and more like a real house and not just a construction site.
We’ve also begun purchasing a few things for the interior of the house. The best part of this (other than the idea that someday soon we will actually be finishing the interior of the house!) is that we have found a few really great deals on Craigslist. We bought the woodstove for our fireplace area, the giant soaking tub for the master bath, and the sink for the master bath all through private party listings on Craigslist. The tub and the sink had never even been installed before, so it was like getting something new for a drastically reduced price. We also purchased some of the stone for patio through Craigslist and Big Man and my parents worked so hard all day yesterday loading and hauling all the stone up to the house.
There’s still quite a ways to go on the house, but it definitely feels like things are moving forward and we’re excited to start on the interior work soon. Thanks for following along!
